Whether you love the hot summers or the snowy winters, Autumn is a transition time that often involves new scents outside the home as well as inside the home. The coolness of the mornings, the decomposition of leaves, Fall flowers, Holiday scents like cinnamon, cloves, and pumpkin all create wonderful memories.

One way to create wonderful scents in the home and give meaningful homemade gifts is to make your own Fall soaps using these 5 Fall Soap Recipes.

As always, I only create recipes using pure ingredients. You will find no fragrance oils here (No matter what they claim to not have in them, fragrance oils are a chemical brew that is not natural or healthy).

These recipes have affiliate links to Amazon for your convenience.

Fall Soap Recipes and Tips:

  1. I’ve included a few Vegan recipes along with the traditional tallow recipes.
  2. You can interchange essential oil scents from one recipe to another if you like the ingredients to another recipe better.
  3. If you want to double a recipe or switch out an oil for another one, make sure you run it through a lye calculator to make sure it adds up. You don’t want to end up with too much lye and have a crumbly soap.
  4. All Recipes are 2lbs

Orange and Cloves Soap Recipe

Makes: 2 pounds

Superfat: 5%

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Weigh and combine tallow, coconut, and olive oil in a large stainless steel pot and heat over low heat until oils are melted. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Weigh water and lye in separate containers. Outside, with protective gloves, goggles, and mask, slowly add lye to the water (be careful. Lye will burn your skin if it touches you. Don’t inhale vapors either!). Stir. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Pour lye water into oils and blend with hand mixer until light trace.
  4. Add essential oils and blend.
  5. Remove 1/4 cup of soap to one bowl and 1/4 cup of soap to a second bowl. To one bowl add 1 teaspoon orange Moroccan clay. To the second bowl add 1 teaspoon ground turmeric.
  6. Pour main batch into a prepared 2 pound mold. Drizzle colored soap back and forth over soap. Use a chopstick and swirl soap back and forth in the opposite direction that you drizzled.
  7. Cover and insulate for 24 hours.
  8. Remove from mold and cut. Cure for 3-6 weeks.

    10 ounces Grass Fed Beef Tallow or Lard, 5 ounces Coconut Oil, 9 ounces Olive Oil

  • Weigh water and lye in separate containers. Outside, with protective gloves, goggles, and mask, slowly add lye to the water (be careful. Lye will burn your skin if it touches you. Don't inhale vapors either!). Stir. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

    3.4 ounces Lye, 9 ounces Water

  • Pour lye water into oils and blend with hand mixer until light trace.

  • Add essential oils and blend.

    0.25 ounces Orange Essential Oil, 0.5 ounces Clove Essential Oil

  • Remove 1/4 cup of soap to one bowl and 1/4 cup of soap to a second bowl. To one bowl add 1 teaspoon orange Moroccan clay. To the second bowl add 1 teaspoon ground turmeric.

  • Pour into a mold and insulate for 24 hours. Remove from mold and cut. Cure for 3-6 weeks.

Spiced Cider Soap Recipe (Vegan)

  • Pour lye water into oils and blend with hand mixer until light trace.

  • Add essential oils and ground cinnamon and blend.

    0.5 ounces orange essential oil, 0.5 ounces cinnamon leaf essential oil, 0.25 ounces Ginger Essential Oil, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Pour into a mold and insulate for 24 hours. Remove from mold and cut. Cure for 3-6 weeks.

  1. Weigh and combine cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, and avocado oil in a large stainless steel pot and heat over low heat until oils are melted. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Weigh water and lye in separate containers. Outside, with protective gloves, goggles, and mask, slowly add lye to the water (be careful. Lye will burn your skin if it touches you. Don’t inhale vapors either!). Stir. Cool to around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
